Beat the heat to experience Bangkok in a truly unique and informative way. Bike the quiet back roads, small alleyways and visit historic sacred temples, all after sunset. The historic centre of Bangkok is incredibly beautiful with its illuminated temples and colourful markets. You’ll be surprised at how few tourists are about these areas in the evening.
Yes, it is safe to ride a bike in Bangkok (a question we get asked a lot). And yes, we avoid the main roads. All our trips are well researched for maximum safety and great experiences, so as much as possible we cycle back roads and alleyways to avoid the traffic and give you a personal experience of Bangkok’s neighbourhoods. Our guides are well trained and extremely safety conscious, and the team provides everything you need including top quality bikes, a professional trained guide, bike lights and, in the very unlikely event you need it, insurance.
If you are looking for a unique experience in Bangkok, this is it!
Bangkok : Thailand
Night Bike Tour in Bangkok, Thailand
Spend a magical evening cycling off the beaten path in Bangkok, for an unforgettable experience exploring some of Bangkok’s most famous sites by bike.
We bike with you to some of Bangkok’s top must-see attractions but without the throngs of tourists. Visit the symbol of Bangkok, the Temple of Dawn, the largest flower market in Thailand, Pak Khlong Talad and Bangkok’s most famous temple, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho.
Gather at the Grasshopper Shop
Meet at the Grasshopper Adventures Shop near Khao San Rd at 5:30 pm. The tour will depart at 6 pm sharp, so make sure you allow plenty of time to get here, accounting for peak hour traffic. After a quick bike fitting and briefing it’s time to head out, staying off the main roads we’ll pedal our way through small laneways, past ancient temples and canals to see the heart and soul of Bangkok.
Cycle and ferry to Wat Arun
After passing through Thammasat University we cross the Chao Phraya River by ferry. Crossing the river around sunset can be quite lovely. Once across we cycle quiet back roads to Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn. At night, Wat Arun is spectacularly illuminated and free of the throngs of day tourists so you can enjoy the serene ambience of the temple.
Visit the Flower Market
Then next unforgettable stop is the world-famous Bangkok flower market. The largest wholesale flower market in Thailand.
Crossing the Chao Phraya bridge, we stop at the flower market which is at its busiest this time of night and the market is a riot of colour and activity. On the walk through your guide will treat you to some of Thailand’s famous street food.
Next on the route is Wat Pho, the renowned Temple of the Reclining Buddha. While the reclining Buddha is not visible to visitors in the evening the temple grounds are truly magical, with beautifully illuminated chedi spires covered in porcelain mosaics. Explore the peaceful temple grounds in the cool evening air – a vastly different scene from the noisy crowds found here during the day, it is almost like having a privileged private tour.
Return to the Grasshopper Shop
Biking on past the Grand Palace we find ourselves in Sanam Luang from which we can see the sparkling chedis of the palace. Cycling again through the back streets of Bangkok’s historic old city we’ll finish the evening’s bike tour back at our shop in the Khao San Road area.
The evening bike tour usually takes 3-4 hours but is variable by group. Dinner is not included in the bike tour but we do include some fun and tasty street food snacks in the flower market.
